Saturday was a beautiful day for a farmer's market!

The morning started out at a cool 60 degrees and quite early as the excitement of our first market kept me from sleeping. So when it was time to make the 50 minute trek from our Tigerville Ranch to the Hub City Farmer's Market in Spartanburg at 6am, I was very thankful for my husband, who had gotten up with me to make breakfast and coffee.

By the time Christie and I had arrived at the market for setup, the sun had made its appearance- accompanied by a nice, gentle breeze- and when we heard the cowbell at 8 o'clock, we knew the market was open for business.  Let the sampling and selling begin!

Now, as co-conspirators in this endeavor, we had both set our expectations low. We knew our jam was delicious, our friends knew our jam was delicious, but what about all of the people at the farmer's market who may think Strawberry Vanilla Bean Jam is just a bit too strange? (Especially with our nontraditional  amount of sugar, the sunshine-y taste of local South Carolina strawberries, and the surprising richness of fresh vanilla bean!)

We made our first sale at approximately 8:15am, and Happy Frog Kitchen made their very first dollar, resulting in two very happy girls! It was so much fun to watch market go-ers taste our samples (and realize the jam was on organic animal crackers) - they loved our Strawberry Vanilla Bean Jam, and seemed to show anticipation towards our Strawberry Chipotle Preserves (coming to the Hub City Farmer's Market this Saturday!).

About halfway through the morning two minor crises struck- we found ourselves out of cupcake sampler liners and small bills for change.  Christie's husband saved the day, and brought us the required supplies so we could finish up the morning.  We'll know to pack extra next time!

Christie and I are off to the kitchen tomorrow for a full day of making fresh, Strawberry Chipotle Preserves... get excited!
